What inspired you to get into fashion?
Ever since I was young, fashion has always amazed me, how changing your look can completely change your mood, or getting a new dress for a night out can give you the confidence you were looking for. I love how fashion can make you feel and working in fashion means I get to be a part of that – making people feel good about what they are wearing and in turn how they are feeling, fashion is more personal than people think sometimes.
What does your day consist of?
I am always looking for new items and looks to bring to our customers, so I always have to make sure I have my finger on the fashion pulse, whether it is researching the new catwalk shows in America and the UK, or sourcing up and coming fabrics, once I have found what I am looking for I spend time sketching out ideas and developing pieces. From there it is all about making these ideas into real garments and ensuring they are the best, fashion and quality, for our customer.
Who inspires you most in the fashion industry?
I am a big fan of Henry Holland, with his fun use of prints and embellishments that turn a simple top into something more. I also love Stella McCartney’s play with fabric and her ability to produce items that can be dressed down for daywear and reinvented for nights out. I try to keep this in mind when designing for Face Off; your wardrobe shouldn’t be one or the other, but items that you can pull out at any time of the day and still feel good in.
What is your favourite part of the Face Off range?
I love how Face Off keeps in line with hot fashion trends but also offers key basic items. As I said before a nice vest or a good pair of jeans is essential to everyone’s wardrobe, and Face Off offers this really well, the “Famous for Denim” range is great in offering great fitting jeans that are really versatile, from basic everyday styles, to those with a touch of glamour, and with more hot denim looks to come, it is an exciting range to keep an eye on.
What is your one piece of key style advice?
Fashion does not exist by itself; it is the person who wears it who makes fashion what it is. Wear your trend with confidence and you can never go wrong, take risks and enjoy it! |
